Our Rich History

Hurricane Rita ripped through the Golden Triangle (Southeast Texas), and several of the sons ventured out of the nest and helped dozens of homeowners with their torn-open roofs.

Carl Smith, Ernie and Terry’s third son, became the owner and president.

Hurricane Ike cut right up Interstate 45, smacking Houston dead on. We opened our first highway-facing office on State Highway 6 in Santa Fe, TX, by Lorenzo’s Pizza.

The largest hail storm on record hit Santa Fe, TX, with softball size hail destroying cars, trucks, RVs, and thousands of roofs. Ernie Smith & Sons Roofing handled the vast majority of these claims, and began building our truck fleet at this time. 

Hurricane Harvey churned over the TX gulf Coast: We opened our second location ever in Victoria, TX, to service Rockport, Palacios, Port Aransas, and Victoria, TX. At the same time, we relocated to Highway 6 in Manvel, TX, at the crossroads of Highway 6 and 288, because of our growing service area.

We opened our Killeen, TX office, servicing scores of homeowners between Austin, TX and Waco, TX. We opened our Lincoln, Nebraska location, and the same year we opened up our Cape Coral, FL office, helping hundreds of homeowners after Hurricane Ian decimated the area.  

We opened our Oklahoma City office.
