Luis Marin

Production Manager

Houston, TX

Luis began his early career as a worker, helping his dad on siding jobs. As a boy, he learned the value of doing the job right the first time. After years in construction, Luis became a valuable superintendent at Ernie Smith & Sons Roofing.

With training in Hardie installation and the GAF “Steep Slope Pro Field Guide Test”, Luis is qualified to take on the challenging jobs.

On any given day on the job, Luis can be found having a conversation with a customer, explaining the processes of our jobs, how the system works, and how a roof is installed. He attends to the roofing crews, ensuring the roof is installed correctly, and ensuring the crews have all the materials they need to complete the roof efficiently and correctly. Luis enjoys the interaction and the fast-paced nature of his job. He likes to keep moving and embrace the next challenge.

Two-Story Reroof in the Firethorne Neighborhood

Katy, TX

This partial two-story home in Katy, Texas, is a good example of a fairly complex residential roof job. The Katy home had suffered hail damage. The homeowner was referred to our company by a previous customer in the same neighborhood. We helped the homeowner file an insurance claim for a new roof and helped them obtain a loan to assist with the insurance deductible.

After removing approximately 3700 square feet of the old roofing material, we installed the exact same GAF High Definition style shingle, including the same previous Charcoal color.

A Formidable Re-Roof in the Silvercreek Community

Manvel, TX

This roof in Manvel, Texas, is a great example of a complex job that simply can’t be rushed. Unlike other basic “up and over” roofs, this steep and two-story home had every possible challenge. We call this type of roof “cut-up,” because of all the many different angles and planes.

There were plenty of vertical and horizontal roof walls that required meticulous, detailed flashing installations, multiple intersecting planes and valleys, dormers, and other smaller penetrations such as skylights, chimneys, and wind turbine air vents.

New Shingle & Flat Roof for Wind-Damaged Home

Victoria, TX

This particular roof was not only steep and complex, but the flat porch and walkway add-ons connecting the house to the originally detached garage concealed significant major structural damage.

Flat roofing material included CertainTeed brand Flintlastic® SA SBS modified bitumen roofing membrane. The remaining greater part of the home was high-pitched and received all new materials and components topped with GAF Timberline HD Slate colored shingles with matching GAF Royal Sovereignty ridge and cut-up GAF Pro Start starter shingles.

Structural Repair & New Roof

Friendswood, TX

At this Friendswood home, a large-scale post-haste rafter repair project was initiated upon the discovery of significant numbers of faulty and rotted framing members, and a total of eight existing 12’ 2 x 6 rafters were replaced.

After also replacing eleven sheets of plywood, we installed a foil-based aluminum thermal underlayment, a new metal chimney base and storm collar, a new chimney spark arrestor, and a GAF High Definition shingle with complimentary GAF components and accessories.
